Director of Software Development

Factom needs an energetic Director of Software Development to lead our teams in development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of Factom products. You will be responsible for ensuring code quality, definition and adherence to standards, consistent delivery of business value and product stability. 

You will participate in complex product development and cross departmental coordination where technical guidance and process is enormously important.   • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent

  • 5+ years experience leading software development teams

  • 5+ years experience in developing architectural standards and SOA technologies

  • 2+ years experience with Cloud technologies

  • Available to travel internationally


  • Work in an agile development environment leading multiple cross-functional teams of software engineers in new product development and maintenance activities

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and work closely with team members to remove impediments

  • Work with product management and project management to drive the Agile process, including release and sprint cycles, to ensure high quality releases delivered on schedule

  • Lead the iterative improvement of software deployment processes to improve frequency and quality of releases

  • Work with product management and leadership to determine priorities and create technical solutions

  • Proactively provide clear, transparent communication on team progress within the organization via project timelines and risk assessments

  • Recruit and cultivate high performing teams by attracting high performing development team members, mentoring them on their career growth, and inspiring them to continue to grow and improve

  • Manage performance of team members through goal setting and measurement, coaching, recognition, and feedback through regular check-ins and formal performance reviews

  • Mentor team managers and senior engineers to cultivate improved leadership across the team

  • Lead the continuous improvement of software development and test processes through collaboration with peers and architects, including architectural reviews, security and compliance reviews, code reviews, quality gates, and the delivery pipeline

  • Regularly evaluate team composition to improve efficiency and effectiveness


  • Full time position with salary $100-120K, depending on experience.
