Paul Snow is the founder and CEO at Factom, the creator of the first blockchain technology built from the ground up, to solve real-world business problems. Paul’s innovative approach to software and application engineering has spawned a litany of inventive open-source companies and solutions that have paved the way for Factom. A true open-source evangelist, Paul also acts as Founder and Chief Architect for DTRules, a open source project he founded in 2004 to make Decision Table based Rules Engines available to all sorts of projects.

Paul is a founder of the  the Texas Bitcoin Conference, and currently serves as president and chair. He holds three patents for graphics hardware and system configuration technologies. He is a supporter of and contributor to the Colored Coins and Ethereum projects, in addition to driving the development of the Factom Network.

 

Jay Smith

Jay Smith is the Chief Operating Officer at Factom, overseeing the sales and marketing departments for the leading blockchain for enterprise data company. He brings over 25 years of experience leading a variety of large IT organizations prior to Factom. Jay specializes in building and driving teams to conceive and execute the market strategies to build company and product/brand awareness in order to grow market share with enterprise clients. With technical management and marketing roles at companies such as AMS, CGI, Wipro and Virtusa, Jay has built, organized and managed teams to deliver complex systems in banking, credit card processing, insurance and government settings.

Brian Deery

Brian Deery is the Chief Technology Officer at Factom. As an early innovator in technology, Brian built a self-driving Lotus Elise which competed in the 2007 DARPA Urban Grand Challenge. The race competition included a precursor to Google’s driverless car.  Later, he was caught by the elegance of Bitcoin and spent several years studying it. In early 2014, he took the plunge and became a full-time entrepreneur in the blockchain space, turning a multiyear passion into a profession.

Previously, he served as an R&D Engineer at Pentair, Ltd where he designed and brought to market an underwater energy harvesting device. His professional accomplishments include managing the quality control robots certifying ~$30M of yearly production at MTS Systems Corporation, and building a computerized electrical component installed in thousands of Harley-Davidson motorcycles at the Eaton Corporation as a Design Engineer. Brian has both Computer and Electrical Engineering degrees from North Carolina State University.

Laurie’s experience includes growing one of the largest SaaS companies in the Mortgage Technology industry (RealEC Technologies) with a successful exit to Black Knight. As one of the founding executives of RealEC, Laurie led product development, product strategy and client relations. After a successful exit at RealEC, Laurie joined Stewart Information Services where she served in numerous executive roles including leading technology operations as the CTO of numerous business lines and serving as the Chief Operating Officer of Stewart Lender Services. Stewart Lender Services specialized in bringing innovative technology-enabled business solutions to the mortgage lending space. Under Laurie’s leadership, she led the business to unprecedented growth and profitability. Beginning with less than $20M in annual revenue, she grew her business to over $500M with record profit margins. Laurie’s experience leading technology and technology-enabled business operations has been recognized in the FinTech space and as such Laurie has served on a number of boards providing strategic insight on operations, business expansion and technology strategy. Laurie was named a 2013 Women of Influence by HousingWire and a 2017 Leading Lady by MReport for her leadership and vision in the Housing and Financial Technology Industries.

Zachary is an accomplished financial and economic architect after serving as an executive in several ambitious ventures, and he brings significant leadership experience from leading complex financial transactions in companies. Throughout his career, he has worked with several companies to advise on complex restructurings, globalization, and a range of capital transactions in both high-tech and conventional industries. While working for KPMG, he was an accredited architect for mission critical financial systems for large organizations such as NASA with operating budgets in excess of $50 billion. Additionally, he has invented patented pending IP in the areas of fintech and treasury management solutions to end reliance on cash and cash equivalent instruments in favor of digitally-based transactions. He is a champion at increasing enterprise value, solidifying financial operations and managing enterprise risk.

He currently serves as an advisor to two different international cryptocurrency companies, treasurer/secretary for a company innovating computer Vision and AI globally for enterprises, and Ataq Online, an eSports Gaming company. He is also a member of the Accounting Blockchain Coalition and the CFO Leadership Council. Zachary is a regularly requested speaker for blockchain accounting, and has addressed the China Blockchain Summit on the topic of Improving Global Liquidity Using Factom as well as a panel on Blockchain Auditability at the Annual Blockchain Coalition Meeting.

David Johnston serves as Chairman of the Board for Factom and provide strategic counseling. He is the Managing Director of the Dapps Venture Fund, the first fund to invest entirely in open-source, blockchain and token-based projects. He also co-founded and served as Executive Director of BitAngels in 2013, one of the world’s largest angel investment groups. An avid entrepreneur and early adopter of emerging technologies, David has founded several enterprises in industries ranging from software to biotech.
